Dozens of players report reaching the underground chamber only to find an empty pedestal. This issue almost always stems from server desynchronization. Because the tide mechanics rely on a central server clock, entering the tunnel during a lag spike can cause the internal state machine to misfire, failing to spawn the tome.
To avoid wasted runs, confirm the underwater bells have registered properly before entering the slide. Look back at the dock posts; if green bioluminescent moss is glowing on the wood, the server has validated the audio sequence. If the wood remains dark, the sequence failed, and you must wait for the next day-night transition to reset the bells.
Another frequent tripwire involves inventory clutter. If your hotbar is completely full when interacting with the lectern, the item grant script can soft-lock. Ensure at least two open inventory slots before interacting with the altar. Should a glitch occur, clearing your character via the respawn menu resets the room triggers without revoking previously discovered clues.
