Custom automations are generally reliable, but system updates and default configurations can cause occasional quirks. Addressing these common configuration bottlenecks ensures your setup runs smoothly:
- If your phone requests permission before playing sound, open the automation in Shortcuts and disable the Ask Before Running toggle. Without this, the routine halts until you unlock your screen.
- The standard "Play Sound" block routes through the system media volume rather than the ringer. If your device is set to silent or media volume is at 0%, the sound will execute without producing audible output. You can fix this by adding a "Set Volume to 50%" action immediately preceding the playback action.
- Using loose charging cables can cause ports to disconnect and reconnect rapidly. This fires the automation multiple times in succession. If your cable fits loosely, replace it before setting up rapid-fire audio triggers.
